The Mass Spectrometry for Biology Laboratory (MSBio) is located at the Institut Pasteur in Paris and is a joint Institut Pasteur/CNRS unit (UAR 2024). MSBio combines a core facility and a research group, to drive cutting-edge technological developments in support of biological and translational research ([Core Facility webpage], [Research Group webpage]).

Founded in 2012 by Julia Chamot-Rooke, MSBio has been IBISA-labeled since its creation and is ISO 9001:2015 certified since April 2018. It serves as the Paris node of the French Proteomic Infrastructure (ProFI).

With a team of 20 scientists, MSBio is internationally recognized for pioneering top-down proteomics in France, enabling the analysis of proteins at the proteoform level. It is also renowned for developing innovative structural, large-scale, and high-sensitivity proteomics approaches, supported by dedicated bioinformatics tools, with a strong focus on host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases. Recent developments include Thermal Proteome Profiling and chemoproteomics for drug target identification and immunopeptidomics for vaccine development. MSBio actively collaborates with industrial partners, offering tailored approaches, particularly for the analysis of biotherapeutics.
